                         atrav{\'e}s de um sistema de localiza{\c{c}}{\~a}o no solo 
                         (LPATS). Os dados obtidos foram analisados em termos de 
                         polaridade, multiplicidade e intensidade de corrente da primeira 
                         descarga de retorno. Os resultados s{\~a}o comparados com dados 
                         similares obtidos na mesma regi{\~a}o para o ver{\~a}o. A 
                         atividade de rel{\^a}mpagos no inverno {\'e} conhecida como 
                         sendo pequena em rela{\c{c}}{\~a}o {\`a}quela do ver{\~a}o, 
                         como tem sido afirmado por diversos autores. Cerca de 71,000 
                         rel{\^a}mpagos foram registrados durante os meses de agosto e 
                         setembro de 1993, no estado de Minas gerais. Os resultados obtidos 
                         s{\~a}o semelhantes {\`a}queles conseguidos no ver{\~a}o de 
                         1993. ABSTRACT: The lightning flash characteristics in the 
                         southeastern region of Brazil were obtained in the winter season 
                         of 1993 through a lightning positioning and tracking system 
                         (LPATS). The data are presented in terms of polarity, multiplicity 
                         and peak current of the first-order stroke. The results are 
                         compared with similar data obtained in the same region in the 
                         suminer season. The lightning activity in the winter is known to 
                         be lower that in the summer season. In spite of this fact winter 
                         have been published for several authors. About 70,000 lightning 
                         flashes were recorded during the months of August and September of 
                         1993 in the state of Minas Gerais. The results obtained are 
                         similar to those obtained in the sununer season of 1993.",
